Guadalajara—the capital of the state of Jalisco and the second largest city in Mexico—is known as the “Mexican Silicon Valley” for being the most important technological cluster in the country, recognized worldwide for its software development. Mexico has become the most important Latin American country for IT and digital creative industries because of its advantageous geographical location near the United States. Its booming technology ecosystem attracts recruiters from Facebook, Google, Apple, Netflix, LinkedIn, and other tech giants.
While Mexico City is one of the most influential financial cities in Mexico, the state of Jalisco has managed to become an important tech hub. Since Guadalajara was chosen by the Federal Government and MIT to be the new Digital Creative City and gave it significant funds to invest in building the infrastructure to host new IT companies, the city also became the core of Mexico’s digital creative industry.
