EA Sports Football Club controller

Concept — Packaging Design
Performance Designed Products worked closely with EA Sports, a division of Electronic Arts, in creating an official controller that was in tune with the FIFA series—a video game franchise that has sold over 250 million copies. I worked on the concepts, product graphics, packaging, and manuals for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions of the EA Sports Football Club controller. In addition, I had the opportunity to design the soccer balls that were used for promotional marketing along with the accessories.
In order to achieve the right sporty look, each controller concept was based on a different soccer ball that I previously conceived. One of them was featured in the official FIFA game.
Far from the highly geometrical black-and-white “Telstar” ball—first introduced in the 1970 FIFA World Cup finals—the EA Sports controllers were influenced by contemporary soccer ball designs, which allowed the use of asymmetrical, organic, and even colorful patterns.
