The Backbone One was designed in partnership with Astro Studios, which, in turn, partnered with Microsoft in the mid-2000s to design one of the most praised consoles (and controllers) to this day—the Xbox 360. But Backbone goes beyond just being a physical device. It is actually a software platform with a hardware extension that unlocks the real gaming potential of the iPhone, turning it into a powerful handheld game console.
The Backbone app includes social features to interact with other users. Also, through its content creation tools, it allows to record, edit and share game footage. The platform supports the use of gaming streaming services like PS Remote Play, Google Stadia or Amazon Luna. Besides, the Backbone One controller was added to the “Designed for Xbox” partner hardware program to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to the iPhone. The device can also be used as a wired controller to play on other devices like the iPad, Mac or PC.
By collaborating in the creation of different types of marketing materials, I have had the opportunity to work alongside the brilliant team behind the Backbone platform since December 2019—which I feel fortunate for. In just a couple of years, Backbone Labs Inc. has seen tremendous growth, which has been reflected in rave reviews from the specialized press and has garnered countless positive comments on social media since the release of the Backbone One in October 2020.
